Grace and Mercy-seat

It is by Jehovah’s kindnesses that we are not destroyed, because His mercies never fail. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness. Lam 3:22-23

Well of Wisdom
What is the first thing God says about Himself and how He sees Himself? In Ex 34:6-7 we read that God sees Himself as merciful and gracious, long-suffering, and abundant in goodness and truth, keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin… Do you see and know Him like that? Do other people see and know you like that?

In the Old Testament the mercy-seat was situated on the ark in the Holy of holies and overshadowed by cherubim. There God met Moses and spoke to him (Ex 25:22). However, in the New Testament it has been fulfilled when Jesus gave you and me grace upon grace when dying for us on the Cross. Now the mercy-seat is situated in your heart, where the King of kings and the Lord of lords dwells and speaks to you!

Now the full measure of grace, the gift of Jesus Christ, has been given to you and me (Eph 4:7). Now you can come boldly to the throne of grace, without condemnation, that you may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need (Heb 4:16). Even when you have sinned, and your human heart condemns you, grace abounds much more (Rom 5:20), because God is greater than your heart (1 John 3:20).

Who sits upon the throne of your heart? Self (the Antichrist) or Grace Himself, Jesus Christ? Are you ruling your heart or is Jesus ruling your heart? Do you minister grace and mercy to others because the King of Grace and Mercy dwells in and is seated upon the throne of your heart?
