Communication
Do not keep the alabaster boxes of your love and tenderness sealed up until your friends are dead. Fill their lives with sweetness. Speak approving, cheering words while their ears can hear them and while their hearts can be thrilled by them. - Henry Ward Beecher -
God has given you a wonderful tool: the ability to communicate and listen to people, to share your heart and thoughts with other people and to affect them by using words. It involves interaction between two people. The depth and intimacy of all relationships depends on your ability to listen with your heart and to communicate clearly and honestly from your heart. Communication and commitment is the two building blocks of married life and of our relationship with God (Eph 5:30-31).
Your words can bless people or break them down. Are your words always filled with grace and sprinkled with salt? (Col 4:6) The right combinations of word can produce almost God-like results. If you are in the dark, they can illuminate your path clearly (Ps 119:105). If you are blind, they can help you see.
God has given you His Word, which is Jesus Christ (John 1:1, Heb 1:2, Rev 19:13) Do you listen to His Word and spent time with His Word? God speaks and communicates to you through His Word - use every available minute to grow closer to your Heavenly Father by eating His Word and allowing it to transform you! Then His Word will become sweet like honey in your mouth (Rev 10:10) and become health to your bones (Prov 16:24).
Decide today to speak words that exhort, build up and comfort (1 Cor 14:3). Let your words be like the words of God (1 Peter 4:11a).
