Consistency

MONDAY MOOD FOOD For your edification and encouragement                                       2009-3

Sometimes the Holy Spirit uses a simple single word to speak deeply into our very inner core… This week we meditate on our third word Consistency through a short wisdom nugget on Monday and a quote a day from Tuesday to Friday.

Consistency

Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in Thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer. Psa 19:14

Well of Wisdom

Consistency is defined as firmness of character, agreement or harmony of parts or features to one another or a whole in the Merriam-Webster dictionary. It means that your thoughts, the attitude of your heart, your words and actions are aligned and in harmony. As children need consistency and structure while growing up, so do you and me in every area of our lives.

Whatever you do, you must do it regularly and without interruption. To bring a pot of water to boil it must be left on the fire until the boiling point. If you keep taking it off then put it back on, it will never reach the boiling point. That is the value of consistency and it goes hand in hand with commitment and planning.

Too many times we have a Stop/Start attitude of inconsistency. The effect of inconsistency in your life is that it creates feelings of tension and guilt, confusion, unbelief, uncertainty, dissonance, denial and irritation. You start to question things, become timid and loose faith and hope that you can do all things through Christ and that you can accomplish that for which God has created you. On the other hand, consistency leads to greater faith, calmness, focus, boldness, integrity and peacefulness.

When your inner beliefs, attitudes, and values originating from the Word, Christ living within you (Col 1:27), and your purpose in life align with the words of your mouth and the actions and fruit of your daily life, you will experience consistency and that peace that passes all understanding (Phi 4:7).

Today’s Faith Action

Make the following statement your motto for today: I like to keep consistent what I think, say and do, and will change and be consistent to ensure that my water pot reach boiling point!
